Pearl Milet millet is the most important cereal crop, and most important millet (>55% of global millet production), grown in over 40 countries. Bajra is grown in India since prehistoric times. It is the basic staple for households among the poorest people.
Health- Bajra is comparatively high in protein and has a good amino acid balance. Bajra is a reasonably good source of thiamine (Vitamin B1). It is also a better source of iron than other grains.Bajra Khichidi is a traditional Rajasthani recipe.
Storage- Ppearl millet varieties produce seeds that are ready for harvest before the plant is dried down.If pearl millet is planted by early June, leaf dry down is usually complete by late September, but weather conditions can greatly affect dry down.
